Every dimension.
Every sheet. Every time.

A checker reading a sheet by eye reads most of the dimensions, most of the time. Dimension Check reads all of them back against the model and marks each one green, amber or red. The checker reads only the amber and the red.

How a sheet
is checked

The check runs when the sheet is drawn, before anyone outside the detailing team sees it.

1

Read

The sheet is read: every dimension string, mark, hole, bolt and note, and where on the sheet each one sits.

2

Compare

Each item is matched to the member in the SDS/2 model and compared: overall lengths, minus dimensions, hole gauges and counts, marks.

3

Mark

Green, amber or red on the sheet itself, with a reason, so the checker goes straight to the few that need a decision.

Decide and sign

The checker decides every amber and red, corrects the sheet or the model, and signs. The record shows which items they looked at.

Person decides

Caught before
cutting

From live jobs. Jobs are described, not named.

  • 6¼"A beam length 6¼" out.The sheet and the model disagreed on one overall length. Red on the run, corrected before the sheet reached the shop.
  • 0Planted errors, every run. Each run carries dimensions we know are wrong. If any planted error comes back green, the whole run is thrown out. The check is checked.
  • —Not yet.It does not judge weld symbols. Those are listed for the checker to read, never marked red by the software.

What a person
still does

The software reads and sorts. The decisions stay with the checker.

Every amberConfirms

A sixteenth off is sometimes a rounding and sometimes a mistake. A checker who has detailed steel decides which, every time.

Every redCorrects

Whether the sheet is wrong or the model is wrong is a judgement. The checker makes it and sends the fix to the right place.

Every sheetSigns

No sheet is issued on a green run alone. A person signs it, and their name and the check record stay with the sheet.
